Local 154 Holiday Party

      Local 154 celebrated its Annual Holiday Party on December 17th and, Oh, what a party! Executive Director of District Council 37, Lillian Roberts, and Local President Juan Fernández addressed the members.

      Retiree Janice Williams, our former Central Labor Council Delegate and event planner extraordinaire, along with Retiree Peter Melendez, former Chapter Chair of the Special Consultants unit at DOH-MH, received special awards from Local 154 in recognition to their dedication and commitment to the members. Also, in line with Local 154's tradition of recognizing members who are not elected officers of the Local, members Jeffrey Rosen, Diana Thillet, William Garfinkle, Edna Marks-Johns, Tom De Maria, Robert Tilley and Margaret Lattanzio were recognized for their special efforts and contribution to the Local during the year.

      Also, the 2007 Scholarship Awards were received by members Jeffrey Rosen and Barbara Sullins-Wilcox in behalf of their children.

      The party was quite a success. Members of the Local's Executive Board took their posts to welcome, serve food and offer drinks to the members. Also, Thomas Orawiec, the hardest working Treasurer in DC37, made sure to recruit members of the Executive Board and others to help serve our holiday meal.

      We want to give special recognition to the Chair of the Holiday Party Committee, Local 154 Secretary Sheera Glass, who made possible the event with her dedication and many hours spent in the planning of the party. Also, we thank Chapter Chairs Ted Manessis and Joe Vargas who greeted our members and made sure they received their holiday gift. Vice-President Mark Heron along With Chapter Chair Robert Mobyed and Chapter Chair Egbert Isaacs, received a barrage of applause for making sure that the beverages flowed and that after much rigorous dancing members could quench their thirst with a cool drink.

      Special thanks to all the members of the Holiday Party Committee, including Coordinator Sheera Glass, Mark Heron, Diana Thillet, Ted Manessis, Egbert Isaacs, Joe Vargas and Juan Fernández.
